Dis:Course is a project supporting groups concerned with disability and long-term health issues in Berkshire and the surrounding area. It will also provide an information service to disabled people, their families and carers. Dis:Course welcomes voluntary organisations concerned with disability and long-term health issues who want to join us in creating a network of groups to share experience, monitor services and achieve change. Your organisation may be a charity or an informal community group, in Berkshire and surrounding areas. Dis:Course aims to: Provide support, resources and advice to community and voluntary organisations that are concerned with disability and/or long-term health conditions; Make partnerships and networks between groups to pool resources and deliver projects, Increase representation of these groups so we reflect the level of need in the borough, Provide Disability Awareness Training to the wider voluntary sector and to local business, Develop a close relationship with the local small business community, Develop and maintain a database of organisations providing services or support specific to/accessible to disabled people, Be the first point of contact for disabled people, their families and carers for advice, information and sign-posting to local groups, Maximise awareness of what activities, services and support are available to them.
